Time Slips (Time Travel? Haunting? Delusion?) LincolnGenghis posted:10/3/2011 8:41:52 PM http://uforeview.tripod.com/timeslips.htmlSomething I came across today. I have come across numerous stories about time slips for years now and have always been curious about this phenomenon. There seems to be many schools of thought on the subject. I was wondering what peoples thoughts were on this subject. Is it an actual slip in time?Is it a haunting? Is it a delusion? There seems to be so many strange stories about events like this over the years that there has to be something to it.itscrazytime posted:10/3/2011 10:06:36 PM Stories about time slips have been floating around the interweb alot recently. I was reading several stories at http://paranormal.about.com/od/timeanddimensiontravel/Time_and_Dimension_Travel.htm. It seems to me like some of them read like hauntings/ ghosts, and then others are just strange. It makes my head want to explode thinking about whether or not time travel is even possible. It seems like time travel would be impossible to me for many reasons. Kind of like "Groundhog's Day" with Bill Murray. You would never live the same events the same way, and that it would open up the Butterfly Effect. Not to mention the fact that the past is the past. Alternate dimentions is a whole other thing. It has been speculation that some very famous incidents are the result of inter-dimentional rifts. Like the Dover Demon, and maybe even the Mothman. And then you have the pure fact that the mind is a strange and greatly misunderstood thing. Take schizophrenia for example, and dreams. spiritech0 posted:10/4/2011 10:25:05 AM Fiction is based on truths. I like H.P.Lovecraft's ideas about space and time: "That is not dead which can eternal lie - And with strange aeons, even death may die."http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Shadow_Out_of_Time#InspirationPerhaps the past, present, and future is hhhaaapppeeenniiinggg "at once"...insidegeek posted:10/4/2011 8:29:21 PM Ive seen a lot about time slips as well. Its a fascinating phenomena and I have no clue what actually causes it; however, I tend to think of it as this. Have you ever been driving down the road listening to a radio station when all of a sudden another station overrides the one you were listening to? Then a minute later your station comes back and everything is back to normal? I just think these time slips operate on that same concept but on a dimensional / time level. I also think this is the reason we can interact with ghosts and the paranormal.LincolnGenghis posted:10/5/2011 3:27:46 AM Yeah over the years I have read hundreds of accounts on it. And I guess the thing that realy gets me is the fact that a good portion of the ones that get reported seem kind of on the mundane side. I think if all of them were just a case of people making the story up you would think that there would be some really outlandish claims in all the stories. I mean if you were going to go thru the trouble of making something like that up (and the ridicule you would more then likely face) wouldn't you just go for broke and make the tale as fantastic as possible. And most of the people that it seems to happen to sound like pretty normal people. (And in some of the cases there have on occasion been multiple people seeing the same thing at the same time.)weldkatom posted:3/7/2012 8:34:42 AM Read a few good stories in Colin Parsons book "Encounters with the unknown",highly recommended!!
