strange sighting jaguarsky posted:8/14/2011 10:53:22 AM About eight years ago I was camping on a mountain top in eastern Kentucky and saw something I had not seen before and wanted to share this sighting to see if anyone else has seen similar.I believe this was in July about 2003 or 2004. I was sitting outside enjoying the night and the sky when I noticed a light coming from the east. It was very bright and had a yellowish cast. It was moving in an east to west trajectory at about the same speed as the space station passes over. Fast, but not incredibly fast. As it came over my position I noticed that it had somewhat of a tear-drop shape, rounded on the front edge with a slight short tail. There was a halo of light around the object and what appeared to be flickers of light along the leading edge, like electricity sparking, but slightly separated and ahead of the object itself. It was about the size of my little fingernail at arm's length. A little smaller than a pea.I just tucked this away as "one of those things" until several months later I talked to my younger brother who lives about 150 miles from the location in KY. He is a sky watcher too and had seen the same object and was as stumped as I.I have seen lots of things in the sky over the years and this thing was not comparable to any of them; not meteors or any of the number of bolides I have seen. No conventional aircrft either. So, has anyone else seen something like this? Please log in or become a member to add a post.
