Which makes sense as we only function in the "now". The process of maturation, then death is merely the way every single thing in the universe, including the universe functions. We call that process time.weldkatom posted:7/3/2014 9:24:01 PM Reality is an illusion...every material object that you touch contains mere empty space...at the Quantum level that is all we are. bobprin posted:7/4/2014 5:22:23 AM Funny how some folks contain more empty space than others.gary107 posted:7/5/2014 10:29:00 PM JakerB posts:>>Reality is an illusion...every material object that you touch contains mere empty space...<< comfortable assertion for an atheist.gary107 posted:7/9/2014 12:48:23 PM Futility: the Wreck of the RMS Titan by Morgan Robertson 1897. Fictional novella originally written in 1898 about an unsinkable passenger ship called the Titan. Close parallels to the Titanic -- both were unsinkable, both struck icebergs, both were on their maiden voyages, only one-third of the passengers on each ship survived, the elite of the time were on board both ships,... a little something for JackerB/Weldkatom, M. Robertson had a relative that went down on the RMD Titanic in April 1912. Caused all ships to have enough lifeboats just in time for World War I. strange the turns of history, eh ?gary107 posted:7/9/2014 12:49:13 PM / RMS TitanicJaxerback posted:7/10/2014 8:14:35 PM That is probably one of the best known flukes of all time...just coincidental.bobprin posted:7/11/2014 6:07:02 AM There are no coincidences, fate is a mirage. We create our lives according to what our soul desires to experience. Even if we think life happens to us, the reality is we happen to it.gary107 posted:7/15/2014 12:20:00 AM "Even if we think life happens to us, the reality is we happen to it." most profound line of thought ever posted on these boards, wish I had said it. the issue of "Futility: the Wreak of the RMS Titan " is meaningful because of current moral/social issues. I now have enough money to buy a copy. I had a few interesting great uncles. Lt. Gen. Howard Douglas Graham was Chief of Staff for CaMOD from 1955-'58 [Canadian Ministry of Defense]. but there was also old uncle Herbert Titt, his father has a city park named after him in Toronto. Herbert was the first wireless operator for White Hall and the Palace. His job included translating the radiograms from the German Imperial family being sent to the British Royal family. Realizing that Germany and Britain were drifting towards war he insisted that the entire Titt family should transport from Bristol to Toronto in Canada. He was concerned for the idea of air bombings by Zeppelin airships. During the Great War he served in the Canadian Signal Corps. In Belfast the ship builders had been working on issues of ship defense in case of torpedo attack. His family was "advised" not to take the RMS Titanic for Atlantic crossing in April 1912. No Royals, minor Royals, White Hall or Palace staff were on that ill fated ship. Here then is the question: did the Royal family have a palace "seer" who realized base on the already published work "Futility" and the very strange circumstances of the writing of that short story, or was there "other" information floating about? The sinking of the RMS Titanic lead to a New York board of Inquiry investigation into the events of that night. The passengers all stated that the ship broke in two before sinking, but the officers and crew all testified that she went down in one whole piece. Our Kaiser Liberty ships produced during WWII were constructed to break in half allowing the remaining part of the ship to "act as it's own lifeboat." The sinking of the RMS Titanic did lead to laws forcing the issue of adequate numbers of life boats for North Atlantic steamers just in time for World War I. The Jan 1978 release of the gay male AIDS virus here in America came after we realized that Atomic bombings gave off Gamma radiation that wiped out the white cell immune systems of the human body; America being a country that is 95% urban. If the decision is made to open our Earth World as a transit point, then for that reason there is also the need for our now advanced Biotech industries. Off world microorganism would need to be defended against. Does a nation/society have a right to do what is in the best interest of it's majority and in light of it's foreseeable needs? A philosophical issue of no small importance.jaxx89 posted:7/16/2014 11:35:32 PM In Reply To:gary107 posted:7/2/2014 4:33:56 PM I used to be a Physics major at university, I have a BA in the study of the Philosophy of the theory of Science.
