I don't think anyone is an idiot for wondering about the many mysteries of the universe. As with anything there is nothing gained by taking an extremist or passive view of these mysteries. To take it to the extreme is to believe that in 2012 the world ends and the infrastructure collapses because people quit their jobs, stop paying bills, defy laws, etc. To be passive suggests that we would stand back and not be good stewards of the earth. Humans have the knack for examining the future and making assessments of needs once this examination is completed. Perhaps it would be more productive to concentrate on the present in making each day count as though it were our last day tomorrow and not possibly in 2012 or twenty thousand years from now. If we don't take personal responsibility for the earth by not recycling, dumping waste into waters, polluting the air we may find ourselves in peril well before 2012.

Any thoughts about air force personnel including Robert Salas and Bob Jamison who have either witnessed or been told about UFO's interfering with nuclear tests in the U.S? It seems that more and more people are coming to the fore front to discuss UFO experiences.

Hey Jeff, I wanted to point out that Obama did not vote outright for the surveillance of the general public. He opposed the Protect America Act that expanded the surveillance powers of government. Congress more recently passed, and Obama concurred, that although not perfect restored oversight by FISA and other bodies to prevent the president from engaging in warrantless surveillance. It is a step in the right direction.

I once attended a conference where a well known speaker stated that we spend a lot of time worrying about our insecurities regarding our safety. She said it was a waste of precious time and energy to worry all the time. If we are constantly fearful of not being safe then we might as well stay in bed and not go out of the house because there is no guarantee that something unrelated to terrorism, famine, or fire and something closer to home won't hurt, maime or kill us. Not to inflict fear by this statement, but we have to try to change the things that we can and do the best to cope with the things that we can't.(short version of the Serenity Prayer).

I am wondering if more people would protest against the current administration. Americans have become apathetic. Perhaps it is a result of feeling helpless. Although it is difficult for people to avoid paying the astronomical gas prices because they have to get to work, myself included, if we really tried we could do more car pooling, walking (when able), ride a bicycle, cut back on unncessary travel, etc. a dent could be made in the price of gas. I know it is a lot to ask, but it is possible.

I totally agree with you that some people do manipulate their relgion to dominate others. I don't believe one has to belong to a denomination to become one with a divine being or other consciousness. Would you tell me what you mean when you refer to something beneath. Do you mean something otherworldly?

I don't expect everyone to believe the way I do, but these are my beliefs: God is loving and does not need to be feared, there are very good people here who do not need to be feared. Some religions try to control people by inflicting fear, our administration uses fear to try to control its citizens and to meet their own personal needs, extraterrestrials exist, however don't know if they are here with us, but I do believe they have visited Earth. I have to go by my own experiences not what someone else tells me is true for me. I know what's true for me.

I don't know about the purpose of life being to harvest fear. I think we live in interesting times and we need to have the ability to think in the abstract and see the positive in life. What we experience in this life I believe we will experience in the next. My spiritual experiences have indicated to me that we aren't transformed from malevolent people to benevolent angels in the afterlife. Some souls have difficulty adjusting to their new surroundings. I think the light is the only thing we can count on for being truthful.

Well, done. I appreciate this essay. I am an artist and when I paint a sailboat with a red sail I want a sailboat with a red sail. If someone comes along and tries to switch my bit by telling me it should be a blue sail, my bit becomes defensive. If in other words I am working with a team of painters on one painting and someone overides my recommendation of a red sail to a blue sail, although I might feel defensive, I would be looking at what's best for the project. If red is just as good as blue than my bit will not go to battle. If a commission is involved and blue will jeopardize my part of the commission then we need to adjust to a bit of compromise having a red and blue sail.

Questions and statements are subjective not objective unless it is something that everyone can observe and measure at the same time and in the same way. Questions about human nature and not measurable phenomenon are difficult for many to wrap their minds around. Many things in this life are arbitrary. Many people think they know how it really is, but then they are comfortable in their interpretation of life and not someone elses. Some may believe that the woman who thinks her husband is an ass may be suffering from her own poor self esteem and is a martyr-according to her prespective she does everything he does nothing. So no matter what he does he will be an ass.
