Forced Perception Share | jeff posted:8/15/2014 4:42:43 PM (Reply)When I worked at TDI, I remember some discussions I had with co-workers. "Can I be frank?" And they'd shrug and say sure. "Should we REALLY be helping to support a technology that creates all these problems for the planet?" They looked at me like I had lost my mind. Here they are, paying me all this money, and I am second guessing my function? Fast forward a few years. Ferguson happens. How many of those police stood there and thought to themselves, "You know, should we REALLY be shooting rubber bullets at people?" All of us are now looking at them, like, "WHAT THE FUCK WERE YOU THINKING?!" We're all FORCED to have these perceptions and it is absolutely nauseating. Those people are "rioters", those people are "jews", those people are "black". *sighs. No, you are using words to make me SEE a certain way, and as an incentive, you are paying me for it--or threatening to kill me. "How many fingers, Winston?" Four...no...no...five, I see five! I swear to you I see five! That has been my experience in life on this planet. FORCED perception. And I'm the crazy one. You know how I've maintained my sanity, however? And I promise you, I'm not the only one who has discovered this unspoken secret. "Sure, whatever you want. Sure, whatever you want. Sure, whatever you want." The moral solution seems simple: Why not try doing something I believe in? Uh, because I don't believe in anything. Even my own experiences in life I don't believe. Why? Because I was told I COULDN'T believe in it. So, you know what? Fine. I'll do and say and walk and talk in whatever way you want for the rest of my life--but inside, I'm burning. Life on Earth is a made up fantasy land folks, and for some reason, we've all decided to treat it, and each other, like a hell.Jaxerback posted:8/24/2014 1:38:00 AM (Reply)Who's Frank?gary107 posted:8/24/2014 2:06:14 PM (Reply)we are "the fallen," it is what we do.jeff posted:8/25/2014 3:31:51 PM (Reply)It is what we do? You mean, we do whatever we are asked to do, in order to put food in the mouths of our family? Not sure how that makes us "fallen" though.bobprin posted:8/25/2014 4:59:14 PM (Reply)We find ourselves in situations at times that we know are wrong. We do things out of necessity that we otherwise wouldn't. Then we castigate ourselves for doing it. I'm quite sure there were police officers at Ferguson that questioned their actions. There were also some who wanted to use real bullets. So, what does one do? Go along to get along is the easiest, saying, "No, I'm mad as hell and I won't do this anymore!" Is the optimum but does it feed the family? Few of us find vocations we are comfortable with and even if you do does it feed the family? I always hated to work my ass off to make someone else rich but... there were times it had to be done. What a different world this would be if the old men that start wars were told, screw you asshole go fight it yourself.gary107 posted:8/26/2014 6:18:28 AM (Reply)mobile troop transport ships with 6000 troopers have left San Diego heading southwest. 2 to 3 weeks to get into position, then WWWIII can start just after the farm crops are in and the young manpower is available for "other" use, late September and all Hell can break loose. it is what we do. if you send them over there, then nyou will make use of them. it is what we do, we are "the fallen."
