After my vinyl records were thrown out and i slowly replaced the essential ones, like Wednesday Morning at 3 am, I was thrilled to hear the additional songs released on the CD. The Sun Is Burning In the Sky is one of the best S & G songs recorded. Their sweet harmony has never moved or blended better. It is exquisite. On every level. The song is so deceptively welcoming, and simplistic sounding. Its music and lyrics are a counterpoint to one another. Just brilliant.

I am 55 years old. I knew this album existed, but never listened to it. Simon and Garfunkel sometimes built powerful, sad and twisted messeges in songs that sounded so sweet, like Barbara Allen and Down In the Willow Garden on the Angel Clair album.

The Sun is Burning sounds so sweet and peaceful. It took me about five to ten repeats to hear how early in the song they transition from a peaceful sunset to something that rises instead, the thing we still fear, forty five years after the song was written, the bright flash, and the mushroom cloud.
