Imagination Made Real?

I have often wondered if our imaginations and what society has put into our minds through religion,movies,folklore,legends,ect... has created some of these so called bad demons or evil beings. I watch the History Channel, Learning Channel,Discovery and all the ones that teach and tell about life,earth,religon,ect..Plus I do my ow research on many different things..And one show I was watching(sorry,I cannot remember the name of the show or the scientist in it). Some of you may know what I'm talking about. But this person went up into a cave with the the belief that you can imagine or believe something and it will happen. They imagined a monk  to the point that the monk became real. So real that they couldn't control the monk after a while. The monk took on a life of it's own and became very real. The person that imagined this monk lost all control of the monk. The monk was nice at first and would obey the scientist and after a while the monk became mean and did what it wanted. If I remember right the scientist somehow got rid of the monk. I guess what I'm getting at here is that maybe through belief over centuries of time and life today we have created these things on our own. Through thought, fear, interest, curiosity or even different religious beliefs. I also seen a paranormal show that said this is possible. Do bad things realy exist or did they evolve from our imagination? Or both?On lighter note does that mean if we beilve or imagine good things does it realy happen? I would say yes on this one.

Yeah, I've spent a lot of time focusing on the same things. 'Intent' basically manifests reality. The practice of doing so is studied in the occult. An 'egregore' is a manifested entity that contains certain qualities. The more you believe in it and others believe in it, the stronger it grows.

I've thought something very similar to this idea in the past and I believe that it can explain why there seems to be such a wide range of mysterious things in this world.  If, as some believe, man was made in God's image and therefore we are creators that would certainly include the ability to create life through nothing more than imagination, willpower and belief.  Could demons and demonic possession be nothing more than the physical manifestations of an individuals fear?  Yes.  I also believe the idea of imagination made real can explain why there is always something more out there.  Some scientist discovers molecules and another says to himself, "there must be something smaller yet that they are built upon."  So he searches and searches believing he will find something until suddenly the technology to see atoms comes around and then POOF!  Atoms.  Then again with protons, neutrons and electrons.  Then quarks and quasars.  It works on the universal scale as well.  Perhaps the universe is infinite because our imagination is infinite, and the universe is expanding because it has to grow in order to incorporate all the worlds and races that we imagine here on Earth, and the beings on those worlds imagine things that come into being and so on and so forth.  Perhaps then the more people on this world who believe the world will end catastrophically in 2012 the more likely it is to happen because mankind is willing the event into existence.  I guess it's just something we all have to think about ;-)

Egregore isn't a bad summation of the idea, but I believe the OP was speaking more along the lines of what the Tibetan's call 'tulpas'

Ok,Then let me ask this. If we can possibly imagine and believe in things or creatures and then have them eventually manifests to full blown creation because we believe strongly in them. Then did we create our own heaven and life after death?Or even a God? And Hell? Religion has pretty much pounded the faith in our heads from the day we were born that there is an after life and a God and a Hell.( Although I dont believe in Hell. I believe we create our own Hell. I think this life is Hell. A learning experience we chose to go through.) So did our ancestors believe in these aliens coming to earth to be our god or gods? And now over time we have created our heaven and after life to be real from strong belief?(from my own experience I believe there is an after life.) so for the evil things in this world we have today. Did religion put that in our heads too? That if we don't go by the rules of the bible we will go to hell? To make us follow a religion or to scare us? It is said that our minds and brains are a powerful thing. So then if you think about it we create our own world and life through our thoughts and it will be, right? If we think negitive thoughts it will happen or positive it will happen, right? You say "The more we and others believe the stronger it grows". (Which I have heard some where too). So it must have some truth behind it.

I grew up around nuclear weapons at Luke and Whiteman AFB's during the Cuban Missle Crisis, though I did not serve in the military the great amount of stress involved created chronic depression and panic disorder. Even with antidepressants and many years of counceling I feel there is no hope of my life creating anything but the twilight zone like nightmarish days that I wake up to, EVERY day!  Imagine waking up every day and you literally  feel as if you are living in the Twight Zone!

I think that it is safe to say that if imagination, willpower and faith are the driving forces of creation then all religions are real, and all the gods exist.  I do believe in the power of the human mind and I do believe that people en mass can have the effect of creating whole realities, but I do not believe that everything is the result of human imagination.  There did exist a world before us that our imagination did nothing to shape, and there exists many wonders in the universe that I don't think anyone could have dreamed up and believed in enough to create.  I think that there must have existed some sort of Supreme Being who created us in much the same way as we have discussed creating others.  We are the reflection of His will, His belief, His faith.  The way I see it, the best thing a human can do is to live life by their own moral compass.  Listen to your conscience and make your decisions accordingly.  Put yourself in a good place mentally and spiritually.  I think that if you do that you will go to a good place when you die (or there is absolutely nothing there, in which case who cares).

Our imaginations are a limitation outside of ones self.Ther e are plenty of people in prison who can sit there and stongly believe they are free all they want, yet they still rot in prison.
