Toward the end of the road was a small curve and on that curve was a farm. On the farm lived an old woman and her brother who was kind of slow mentally. At midnight on some nights the woman would put on a hooded cape, carry a lantern and walk out to the barn. Sometimes when couples would park on the road to do whatever the brother would sneak up on the car and scare the couple inside by rocking the car or making scratching noises on the car and then hide. To be honest, I myself never experianced these things but was told about them by friends. What happened the night I took the short-cut? Driving around the curve my headlights refelected off the farmhouse windows. I told some friends about it and they told me the farmhouse had been torn down about two years before, so there couldn't have been any reflections. I was positive of what I saw and a couple days later went to see for myself during daylight to see if the house was actually gone or if my friends were pulling my leg. Sure enough when I drove by the place there was no farmhouse standing on the property and the barn was also gone. So what did my carlights reflect off of if there was no building there? That I don't have an answer for. Was it a ghost house, my imagination, or some other explaination.JapaneseAnkh posted:1/24/2011 9:14:51 PM (Reply)If you ask me (and I think you did) it sounds like you might have layered dimensions, where this farmhouse is in one and you are in another.Levinus posted:1/25/2011 11:45:07 AM (Reply)Layered realities, not dimensions. See my post to Japanese Ankh. Thats kinda cool though. I get kinda bored of the usual ghost stories, so its nice to hear about a ghostly house.macros72 posted:1/26/2011 5:08:36 PM (Reply)Ive always had this wacky idea that the pull of the Moon, the Planets and the Sun somehow effect certain points upon earth - which results in time slips and layered realities.Any one else agree?erysian posted:1/27/2011 2:10:41 PM (Reply)No idea macros, but interesting thought. Not sure how you'd go about trying to test that either, but good luck. macros72 posted:1/27/2011 6:33:22 PM (Reply)is this guy above for real? :D I know we all share our ideas and experiences here knowing they shall be read and respected but come on... If you cannot treat this place with respect then you shouldnt be here! macros72 posted:1/28/2011 2:28:26 PM (Reply)erysian the above message was for another visitor who posted after you did. I've had similar experiences here in my native Iowa. There are lots of stories of ghost lights around an old Danish church not far from my place, which I have seen myself. I know Wisconsin has just as much Scandinavian influence as Iowa does and my Danish side of the family has been passing down stories of the "Lantern Man" for years. The "Lantern Man" is very similar to will-o-the-wisps. You might think about looking up some info on him or you can just check out the link (it's a little cheesy).http://myths.e2bn.org/mythsandlegends/view_myth.php?id=10macros72 posted:1/29/2011 6:48:15 PM (Reply)This is very interesting as in Lincoln there is a church located far from the city lines that has simliar descriptions of lights and wisps that come towards it grounds. These lights have been reported to flee or return to the woodland. Spooky!itscrazytime posted:2/5/2011 8:49:24 PM (Reply)I saw a house a few times on the way to my mother-in-laws, I have actually seen it a couple of times since. The house always gave me a strange feeling about it and when I was telling my kids about it they wanted to see it. I took them to where it was and we drove by 3 times. I thought I was missing it, so I went further down the road until I realized that there was something wrong. I told my husband and he told me I was nuts because there was a house there, and I told him no. There is just a field and some brush and trees...no house. Nothing, not even a sign of like a fire or something. I always thought that house was strange. I have seen cars in the driveway and people in the yard occasionally, but the people never really seemed to be dressed in "now appropriate" clothes, wearing things like dresses. It is on a back road in a rural area and driving at 50-60 MPH I never really got a close look, but it was DEFINATELY there. Please log in or become a member to add a post.
