This is taken from a description that I had my sister write out for me about a creature she saw inside my house.  She is not the only person to have seen it.  This thing has been seen in and outside.  There have also been incidents of poltergeist like activity, voices at night, the pets getting alert and scared when nothing is visibly around, missing items including one of my crosses, and lots of seeing movement out of the corner of your eye then having nothing be there when you look."... I was in our kitchen doing the dishes and to the left of me would be our fridge and then the door frame. So here I am washing away and i keep seein something out of the corner of my eye. Thinking it was just a cat I kept washing and ignored it, but i had to look when i realized it had stopped moving and was just peeking around the corner. When i turned to look at (it) it was maybe just to my knee high... small lil hairy hands, ragedy clothes, tiny little squishy face, his face is was I remember the most... it was just so little and kind of looked like brad pitt on that movie were he is born a old man? just like that!! same size and everything"She went on to describe it as wearing old soiled clothes like a bum, having red/brown/grey hair, it had five fingered hands, and (most disturbing) it wasn't perfectly still but was moving slightly.  It's eyes were following her movements, it adjusted its weight, leaned more around the corner, it flexed its fingers, and other just little movements that you would expect a normal person to have.I thought that perhaps it is a tompte (which is a kind of Brownie or house elf), but that might just be wishflul thinking.  If anyone has any ideas send 'em my way.

Did it hurt any of you, or is there only things dissapearing?
tapuout4985   posted:3/15/2010 2:16:09 PM  (Reply)
Nope, no one has gotten hurt by it.  I have never seen it, but I have witnessed some of the more disturbing events.  The first was something like 10 years ago.  I was sitting right here at the computer when I heard a rattling behind me, I looked over my shoulder just in time to watch my framed print of Da Vinci's "The Last Supper" fly off the wall and break.  Since then and much more recently I have had my guitar (which hangs by a hook from the ceiling) play notes after I had gotten in bed.  The first time was a fretted note that sustained (meaning you would need two hands and would need to hold the string), the second time was a fretted chord that sustained, all six strings played that time.  No one has ever been physically attacked, or even felt overly threatened by it.  Once, my mother was sleeping in the guest room when she heard a voice in the room, she sat up to see who it was and they told her either to "Don't get out of bed" or "Get out of bed", she wasn't sure becuase the voice seemed strangley distorted.  Because she didn't know what to do she just sat there until she got the courage to turn the light on and of course there was no one there.  The next morning she told me about and I knew it wasn't me and house doors were still locked, nothing was missing, and the dogs had never barked so I doub ti t was an intruder.

It could be an elemental. I've heard talk of them being smallish in size. Though I would bet this is an interdimensional being of some sort. The house may be resting on or around a natural vortex which would make crossing back and forth easier. It is also possible that there are multiple things going on at the same time. This would make sense if there is some kind or vortex. He may not be to blame for the flying objects, but may be stealing items. The lore from the past of faeries, gnomes, etc are based on fact in my opinion from this very phenomina.Hope this helps.

There are ways to seal your surroundings but care should be taken. I recommend burning sage and go around the house spreading the smoke. This is a good cleansing practice. Salt or salt water can be used as well, flicking it on doors and windows helps to ward unwelcome guests. I wouldn't go much further than this though until you KNOW exactly who and what you are dealing with. Dimensional beings are not usually effected by faith based religious banishing, it just stirs them up. If there is demonic activity, then it may help. But it does not sound like that is currently going on.
tapuout4985   posted:3/15/2010 4:14:56 PM  (Reply)
I haven't felt like it is demonic activity.  I'm actually a Reverand so demonic activity wouldn't actually be as big a deal because demons I understand and can deal with.  This is something I haven't had any experience with outside this house.  Without knowing what it is I don't know how to remove it or even if it is something that needs to be dealt with.  Most stories of tompte, brownies, house elves, and such say that they can be more helpful than not, only causing problems when they aren't satisfied with how the home owner cares for the place.  Another thing about it is that it has never seemed violent just mischievous.

Where do you live (state and county would be fine if you are in the U.S.)? Local may have alot to do with it.

Yeah, you have a Brownie. Faerie denizens ARE interdimensionals, rather like ghosts- only they were never human to begin with...I've studied a bit of the lore on how to deal with such beings, and in general, advice for this type of being is pretty standard. Be respectful, say hello if you see it, etc. And BRIBING the beings to keep them happy is recommended. Traditionally, milk and honey left in a special location reserved for the being would help. As it has clothing seemingly made of rags, you might find some dolls clothes or toddler clothes for the being as a gift might also be nice. According to lore, the fae beings will either settle in quietly or begin to help around the house, doing dishes or something. It's very important to be kind and respectful, and not to allow fear of the unknown to set you against these guys as enemies. That they're not fond of Christian accoutrements is hardlly shocking. Native traditions, including those of Europe, included knowledge of how to deal with such beings, and telling friendly from unfriendly, and encouraged respectful relations. The desert religions (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam) have always been wholly negative to such beings UNLESS thsoe beings present themselves as "angels". (Not saying angels do not exist separately, just that many cases of angels have later turned out to be these "tricksters.")  I'm sure I'd be hostle, too if a race of beings who used to welcome me started shaking crosses at me and telling me I was a demon! Something about either the location of your home or the people living in it must have attracted them. Underground streams, limestone and iron deposits, "ley line" nodes, a recent paranormality "flap," or even just natural psychics in your family line. Seriously, as weird as the circumstances are- you're actually rather lucky. House faeries are exceedingly rare. What an opportunity for study! Don't let fear ruin everything. But don't let yourself be bullied, either. Make a deal. "Hey, Brownie/Pixie/House elf, I'll be nice and you be nice, okay?" You can set up "Brownie friendly" areas inside and outside the home (with offerings and maybe pint sized furniture, small mirrors or crystals) and then areas that you declare off-limits like bedrooms and bathrooms (you're entitled to privacy, afterall-- and faeries are terribly damaging to plumbing!) Hang traditional horseshoes over doorways you don't want them to cross. Look up "anti-faerie" plants and hang small bunches of them in those rooms' windows. Tradition is full of advice on such things. Some of it will work on Brownies, I'm sure. One remedy that worked well for some friends of mine who had 3 foot tall cowled dwarves visiting was large chunks of obsidian for "grounding." The idea being that these stones absorbed so much of the excess "energy" the faerie were feeding off of it behooved them to steer clear or be "drained." Worth a try in rooms you want to keep to yourself.IF that goes wrong, then and only then after trying bribery and respect, bargaining and boundary-making should you attempt to wedge them out of your domain forcefully.

As a paranormal investigator, this intrigues me very much. I deal mainly with investigating hauntings, but don't limit myself to just ghost hunting. Just wondering, for research and study purposes, if you have tried setting up hidden cameras throughout your house in hopes of capturing evidence of whatever it is you're dealing with?

It makes sense why it was watching her do the dishes. They seem to like doing that kind of thing. Being helpful and getting respect and offerings as a reward. It would be an interesting experience being able to live along side them as we did more regularly in the past.

Lucretiasheart has given good information, however, I would disagree with being to inviting to this entity, and inviting it to stay. One of the things that are often left out in New Age books and websites about Fairy Folk is that traditional people avoided them, for if one does something to cross them, they can make your life worse than miserable, and getting back into their good favor is often very hard to do once you have crossed them, even if its because of a lack of knowledge or understanding (in other words an act of stupidity). Be careful is all I am trying to say here.

Aye, that's pretty much what I thought it could be, but I have never had personal experience with one.  I've already made it clear that it can have all the honey it wants as I am a big fan of honey myself and there is plenty of it around.  Thanks for the good info, excellent post.

I have actually.  Had the camera up for a couple of weeks but only ever got pictures of one of my cats.

Another interesting note is that it has appeared in physical form, always as the same tiny old man, so that he could be seen, but only ever to women.  No men, including myself, have ever laid eyes on it even though plenty of men have witnessed other paranormal activity.  It has always been spotted either peeking around doorways, or hiding under trees outside.

Different types of Fae were known to behave in different ways. They used to be known as we know different species of animals. The lore suggests what Lucretia has reported. Though there are dangers out there in various forms, I'd think as long as you are respectful, this is a relatively safe creature. I think too often we assume if it is unknown or mysterious that it MUST be no good. I'd think if it was more than curious and wanted to harm you, it would have done so by now. Lucretia didn't suggest taking it to the family reunion and rubbing it's feet. Only to offer it kindness indirectly and a bit of respect. Even shape shifters were known to not be all bad according to Native American tradition.

I agree though that you should be cautious.

Where are you living?..what state? what area of the atate?..there are areas around the globe that have a high degree of strangeness happening - odd creature sightings, ufos, etc..these areas, from what I've read, have traffic back and forth between dimensions. You might be in one of those areas. One area os Eastern Pennsylvania, another is north east Ohio (bigfoot country), north eastern Utah (the skinwalker ranch). I'm suspecting these areas are more common than those that take an interest in that sort of thing know about. If you have any other stories, encounters from you rpast, friends, your sister, etc..in the general area it may help to explain this specific entity.

I thought I would make an update here on the goings on.  Two new phenomena have risen to my attention.  The first is a strange hum in my living room very similar to the Taos Hum phenomena.  If I sit just west of center in my living room and face west I can hear a sound like a deep rumble, perhaps like a diesel engine or a prop plane flying away from you.  I have actually turned off all electronic devices in the home and the furnace and the sound persists.  The attic above is empty and the crawl space beneath it is empty.  If I face any other direction or even lean from side to side the hum disappears.  The second phenomena is that I think my cat now has a doppelgänger.  This happened when we (meaning myself and my mother) saw my cat walk by and called to him.  We called his name several times and I even snapped my fingers at him but got no response.  This cat was the exact same size and moved exactly like my cat.  Then my father came in, saw what we were doing and said that it couldn't be my cat because he was on the porch.  I went to the porch and 'lo and behold there was my cat.  I grabbed him and ran back to the living room just in time to see the other cat walk around a corner.  I walked over to that spot and searched, but the other cat had vanished.  Once I had my cat in hand and could see the other mystery cat I saw that they were actually mirror images of each other.  My cat is black with white feet, white spot on his face, and his right rear leg is white.  The other was exactly the same, but its left rear leg was white.  Other than that their size, shades of color, fat belly, and the way they move are identical.
