All posts welcome, just share and be open.  How did your experience effect your belief system, your world, your routines and habits.  Did it change you?  Did it excite you?  Did it move you upon a new path in your life?  Did it terrify you?

About a year ago, I was awaken in the middle of the night, about 2 a.m. and from the corner of my bedroom there was dark <blackish> figure  coming towards me, I opened my mouth to scream but nothing came out, no sound. The figure stood by my bedside for a moment as if looking at me and then it sat on my chest,  I feel like I must of  passed out at that moment since  that is all I can remember of it, but is as real today as it was that night. It terrified me and I have slept with the bedside lamp on since that night.  There are still many times I am awaken at night, usually between midnight and 3 a.m. and although I do not see anything, I feel as if I am being watched.   This makes me very uneasy.. Has anyone else experienced this and if so, any ideas as to what it is and why me.

Sounds like a classic abduction to me. Did you ever get a clear view of it's face? I have had experiences of this kind and worked for many years with Budd Hopkins to uncover what it was. In my first experience, a bright light came down by my bedroom window and "something" came in the door and down the hall toward my room. I was so paniced that I tried to crawl under my dresser which sat only seven inches or so off the floor. Needless to say that did not work. The door to my bedroom opened and something came in. All I could remember were giant black eyes. Next thing I know I'm paralyzed and on a table in a very bright room. This was in 1987 and I was sixteen at the time. After that the experiences continued for four or five years. Lights and small figures were seen by neighbors. The feeling of heavyness in the chest as if they are sitting on you is also described by many people who experience this. Not sure if you are up to it but you may want to pick up Intruders by Budd Hopkins. Budd puts people like this together with others that have experienced similar things so that they can support each other. That helped me alot especially at 2AM when you just need someone to talk to that doesn't think your crazy.Peace,GP

Really, had no idea. Did I miss that somewhere or you just keep it to yourself?

Yeah I've written about it quite a few times but I won't hold it against ya. LOL. Pretty nasty stuff. Getting my soul pulled out of my chest when it happens. Wicked, wicked stuff. The worst ones are the possessions and the humiliations, which usually 'begin' the sleep paralysis, as I wake up from those, trying to escape the humiliation, and bam, I get pinned and tortured in the room and can't move. The other night I was demonically posessed in my dream, and heard myself speaking in a croaky voice "I am in you" or something like that in real life, and I smacked my head against the wall.  But I have beautiful dreams as well. Like last night, I was given a ride on a boat that was somehow attached to a plane. I was taken whale watching, where all these massive sperm whales were jumping out of the water and trying to splash me, and the boat/plane kept skipping around and flying with me sitting in the back, smiling, like it was some amusement park ride. There were sharks in the water as well, but I felt safe--like the whole thing was just for me to enjoy the sensation.

No, I wasn't able to make out a face. Just the form of what I assume is a man. Well the even more odd thing to me is, right about the same time it happened to me, my grown son, who also lives in the same home I do, was awaked several times with a black figure hovering over him. Also, a good friend of his who lives about 35 miles away experienced the same thing.. It seems to come to all 3 of us within just days apart.    When I was about 12 yrs old my grandfather passed away , about a week after his funeral, I started seeing a ball of light bounce around in my bedroom. If I called out to my parents, the light would go away, but come back soon as the door closed..  At first I was terrified but after time it became almost a comfort.  I have had several encounters in my life with what I can only call ghost. Things falling for no reason, wash rags hanging in mid air , I would ask other people if they ever had experiences of the kind and rarely found anyone else that had or would admit to it, so yea, I know well the looks of " you poor crazy girl" lol

Sounds similar to  tales of "abductions" just as much as the science of "sleep paralysis".  Sleep paralysis...and i quoteHave you ever had a really frightening experience where even though you felt like you were awake, you are unable to move or call for help? Well, you might be suffering from a condition known as a sleep paralysis disorder. It is interesting to note that over the centuries, the sleep paralysis symptoms have been described and often attributed to evil presences like unseen night demons, ghosts, humanoid entities and even alien abductors! However, research has now shown that paralysis is simply a sign that your body is not moving smoothly through the stages of sleep. It is a feeling of being conscious while being unable to move and is usually the result of an ill-timed disconnection between the brain and the body. While some may experience it only once, others may have it frequently, even several times a night. During this time the person may be unable to move or speak for a few seconds or feel pressure or a sense of choking. However, the good news is that this paralytic condition is not considered to be a dangerous health problem.I too have experienced a variety of terrifying auditory, visual hallucinations during SP.  the feeling of being watched at night appears from subjects to be a symptom of trauma. Fear is very powerful.

Hmm. Maybe not alien related then. Sounds very ghost like. It may be watching because it's somehow related to the family? I've not had anything like that. I've seen ghosts. I worked at a haunted motel for a year or so and had three different encounters there. But they were definately owned by the motel and did not follow me. When these "alien" encounters were going on heavily there would be some, what I call, residual effects afterward. Almost like their presence would effect the fabric of reality around them on some level. Once after an encounter these black worm like things scittered across the floor sending out sparks and moving very quickly. They were about two feet long or so and about arm size in radius. My wife and I both witnessed them. One hit my leg and disappeared and the other two flitted into dark areas of the room and disappeared. The only experience I've had where something (not alien) came at me in the night was when I was about five years old. I remember it vividly. I heard my bedroom door open and someone come in the floor cracked a little here and there and I could hear it all. I was wide awake. I wasn't asleep but pretended to be because I was scared. I was always crawling into my parents room and sleeping under their bed. Whoever it was sat on the edge of my bed, I could feel the matress give with their weight. I laid there terrified for what seemed like an hour. I started to sweat from the blankets but I was too scared to move. I knew at some point that I'd have to. They were still sitting on my bed, so after what seemed like an eternity, I pretended to turn over in my sleep and peek a glimps of whoever it was. What I saw was horrible. It was an old "woman" like a crone type person. She actually looked like a classic old witch only real. She was grinning broadly, gray hair and wrinkles the whole bit. Her eyes were so fixated on me, staring not more than a foot or two from my face. It doesn't sound scarey to call her an old woman or a witch but she was horrifing looking. I got the feeling that if she wanted to all she'd have to do is say the word "die" and I would have. She felt that powerful.I thought less and less about this as I grew up. But then one night my wife and I were talking and she recounted the same EXACT thing happening to her at the same age of four or five. I'd never told her of my experience. Only in her case the woman spoke the words "she will do".  Not sure what to make of it but thought it was strange that we both saw her.

I don't see how sleep paralysis can explain the fact that different people see the same things. Doesn't seem to matter what culture they are from or anything. The descriptions are often very detailed as well as procedures...if we are talking alien. It also doesn't explain objects moving by themselves in conjuction with it. I've experienced SP too a couple of times and could tell the difference.

Hi, sometime back I was asleep when I felt someone sit on the right corner at the foot of my bed. So I put my foot there only to discover there was nothing there. Then I felt it again...a very heavy person sitting down on the other corner of the bed. So I put my foot there. Next thing I knew it felt as if there was a cat on top of my bed covers and with a swift motion I threw off the "intruder" and i heard it hit the ceiling. and then the floor. I switched on the light and there was no one or nothing there. So from that point on I slept with a lamp on and didn't bug me anymore. I no longer sleep there in that room. No imagination here as others who have occupied the room have complained to me asking who the man on the bed is.Hoss

many, many years ago when i was a nipper :) i was on one of those caravan holidays with my parents.  The caravan wasnt our own but a rented one and boy was it old and smelly.  I had to sleep on one of those sofa bed thingies and on the very last night there i woke up and could feel a wieght along my feet and part of my legs.  It was the same feeling as that of a person sitting upon you and for some reason i had the impression that it was an old women.  It panicked me alittle and i lay there for what must have been half an hour before drifting back into sleep.  Ive never had that sensation/feeling since.  My mother did mention on the long journey home that the original owners of the caravan where two old ladies!  Spooky!

I once caught sight of  a tall figure in my bedroom at night, it was in the early hours of a Monday morning.  It slowly dissappeared the moment i noticed it.  Looked in shape and form similar to a hooded monk.  Must have been around 6-7feet tall.  After reading your account Im glad my visitor disappeared.

I dont think sleep paralysis and its effects upon the senses can all be placed in one box.  The one time i awoke to find i couldnt move didnt develop into seeing strange entities or feeling a pressure upon my chest.  I did hear this odd whining/buzzing noise in my head though and It sure did scare me.

About nineteen years ago I was staying with my grandfather until I got my own place. I was pregnant at the time and so was my deaf cat. My room(blue room) was upstairs and my cat would never go in it. She would sit in the living room area  and look around the corner and just stare into the room.( the house was big and had living quarters upstairs) I found that strange (even tough I felt something wrong with the place from when I was young). So... I pick my cat up and toss her on the bed. She then starts jumping and hissing and takes off like a bat out of hell from the room. I never did that again to her. I felt very bad. But I had to check. (animals are sensitive to these things). Also it was the first time I was allowed to bring an animal into the house. There are three rooms on that end. The red room, green room. blue room. They are named that for the color of the rooms. I have slept in all the rooms in that house and I always felt like I was being watched. Or something was there. I had a mattress on the floor in the living room area and I always slept facing the bedroom doorway. I also had all the lights on and the tv. Still my cat would never go into the room even if I was in there getting something. She would sit out side the door. I have experienced alot of paranormal things in my life as I was growing up and still do. So I decided I was going to sleep in the room and see what happens. I woke up to my cat sitting on the floor by my bed with all her hair standing up and growling at the ceiling. At first I was happy to see she was in the room until I realized what she was doing. I looked at were she was looking and growling. I will never forget this. There was a huge black mass about five feet above me. It was the size of a queen size blanket.(is what it seemed in size). Just there...I stared at it for a few minutes because I couldn't believe my eyes. It was very dark black like really black smoke it had no shape or anything but I could see that it was moving around. I freaked out and turned the light on and it was gone. I turned the light off again to see if it would still be there and it wasn't. I sat up most of the night trying to debunk anything that would cause that and nothing to debunk it. I never slept in there again and shortly after I had my own place anyway.A friend of mine was over visiting a few days ago and told me that her son and her were watching a movie and fell asleep watching it.(she has two couches in her living room) She was on one couch her son on the other. Her son woke up and seen a big black mass over her while she was sleeping and got scared and woke her up. She now sleeps with all the lights on. She is not one to talk alot of these things and is not aware of the different paranormal things so I truley believe her. Beside shes really scared. I also never told her about any of my expeirences. Until now.I have two different cats now and they see things but don't growl at them. Only once they did upstairs and I smudged and had no more problems. They are doing new siding on the houses here and are pounding on the walls so I think they are disturbing the spirits and ghosts. Alot of people have seen a little girl here for many years go from house to house(we call her Ashley)she don't bother no one it's the other things that have started latley.I am wondering if any one knows about black masses and are they bad(evil) or just harmless ghost. If you know anything about them please let me know.Umm....Im alone here no one here at all from yesterday. My kids are gone this week end. I have been cleaning and made my sons bed this early this morning. I just went up stairs to get my cigs. and his blankets were half way in the hall....a little freaked right now never happened before. things have moved around but not like this. going back up stairs..

I've had a few, so I'll pick my favorite story.  I was investigating a house because my friend's cousin's wife had died in the home of natural causes.  The cousin committed suicide upon discovering the body after returning home from work.  While the family was trying to clean and empty the house they had several strange events happen and I was asked to assess the situation.  Myself and three others spent a day and night investigating the home and during that time we witnessed the kitchen cupboards, refrigerator, and oven doors begin to violently open and close on their own.  Later in the night a closet door swung open, stayed open for a split second, then slammed shut.  On reviewing the video for this event a fog can actually be seen drifting from inside the closet.  The one that really takes the cake though is when one of my team stayed in the room where the suicide occurred while the rest of us waited in the living room.  We wanted to see if the activity would increase for someone sitting alone.  The rest of us were waiting downstairs in the living room when we watched someone walk down the stairs into the kitchen.  Assuming it was our lonely investigator we called out to him and he responded from upstairs.  We entered the kitchen and found no one.  Later review of the tape showed the image of a woman in a white slip walking down the stairs and it the kitchen.  She was fully formed and showed no transparency at all.  Of all the paranormal events I have witnessed this was the most paranormal activity I have ever seen in one location and never before or since have I seen a spirit as corporeal in appearence as that one.

Of all the weird things I've seen two things stand out as being particularly unsettling.A few years back I was sleeping at my then partner's house, a nice enough little unit. I had awoken to an old lady, wild looking (a little like the crazy cat lady from the Simpsons, but dressed nicer) that was trying to get me out of the bed. I freaked, she disappeared and when I woke up the person I was with they said "she's nothing to worry about". For the next few months I convinced myself it had been a dream until the relationship went very bad and I realised the lady had been warning me, not trying to frighten me. (I think)The second was about a year ago or a little less, I had been dreaming about a bizarre burglary in which a burglar had broken in, to cook dinner. I had woken up quite amused at the dream and seeing it was still not quite light yet I went to go back to sleep. As I rolled over to face the room (I had been facing the wall at that stage) there was a shadowy figure standing a few feet from the bed, probably about six foot, maybe a bit less. Quite solid, not misty or anything, just shadowy - and as cliche as it sounds - appeared to be wearing some kind of hood. My response was to force myself back to sleep. Again, my way of dealing was to say "well it happened as I woke up, so I must have been dreaming still." Coming from a family where almost all of us suffer from or have suffered from sleep paralysis, this wasn't hard to convince myself of either. Looking back though, it was clearly not. I had been awake for about ten minutes or so thinking about just how odd the dream was. The last bit that I now realise I had neglected, was the fact that as I rolled over it wasn't until I actually looked that I saw it. It wasn't glaringly obvious, but it was there and I had to strain a little initially to be sure of what I was seeing.

Could be many things, but we all share a human brain, along with many other behaviors and traits...why not share similar dreaming or SP experiences? SP is not an exact science for everyone and there is much to learn but seems many of us share similar and sometimes dissimilar SP experiences in labs. Either way, it was just a possible explanation. I suppose if i agreed that these are alien abductions and nothing else, then few would argue. I hope it is aliens abducting and traumatizing people? that does not sound quite right. Actually i hope there are no superior aliens, it leaves our survival as we know it out of our control, especially if they are anything like us. We torture any other living thing to experiment for our own benefit of knowledge and no other as much as we imprison animals for our own entertainment, yet we try to prevent their extinction? I hope no other intelligent alien is like that but we may never know. thats why its a mystery :)
