Religion a virus of the human mind. If you think about it our brain is a computer, why would it not be able to catch a virus like our computers when they dont have a good firewall. after all every virus on computers are made by humans and so is religion. if your weak minded you believe much faster in a lie (religion) so to say your firewall is not strong enough to stop it. just something to think about. lets discuss ? oraculum posted:10/31/2012 9:51:26 PM (Reply)OK well first all ideas are essentially viruses that grow into complex ideas that eventually either get thrown into the recycling bin or go on to define the system that its infected. Now religion is a creation of man just as time and our perception of it, its all how we view our lives so yes religion can be seen as a virus but a necessary one. All systems need a structure or OS to work... some people see religion as there reason for living, I have a religion and beliefs that guide my daily life so I understand this concept... so yes it's a virus but a needed one for a lot of people who have nothing else to believe in.oraculum posted:10/31/2012 9:54:21 PM (Reply)I'm not saying people who have religion are narrow minded just that they have faith, which lot of people have no idea what having faith is. narxes posted:11/1/2012 5:15:15 AM (Reply)having faith does not necessary mean you need religion. religion is a ideology a way of life to fill in your unanswered questions about life. once embraced one becomes delusional they look at life as if its magic, to me that is a virus of the mind. when one stops asking questions and look around for answers instead of saying religion told me so. to me that is narrow minded.LincolnGenghis posted:11/1/2012 8:31:08 AM (Reply)In Reply To:narxes posted:10/31/2012 2:19:27 PM (Reply)When a computer got a virus we try to fix them reprogram them and if that does not work we trow them away or totaly erase the hard drive and start over. but what about humans ? and NO im not talking about viruses for the body i speak about viruses of the mind. Well that's one take on things. Another argument could be that people who flat out Reject any and all forms of faith, religion, Intellient design, a higher power or even just Positive and negative energy might just have Malware in their operating systems and don't Even realize it. It always amazes and amuses me watching the arguments on this subject, it always seems in most of the cases in general that the people with zero belief in anything usually lose their cool first for some reason. They seem to get so out of sorts with people that believe in something its funny. I mean really, how does it effect them anyways that somebody else has faith In something that they don't. Ahh sensing a good middle weight prize fight Lincoln sits down in the easy chair ringside with a bowl of popcorn and cracks a beer. "Now we want a good dirty fight, hitting below the belt is expected, when your opponant goes down stomp on their head at least once then go to your corner. do you understand these rules? good.. now spit on each other and go to your corners." Did early man sense in his surroundings a mystical presence? Is religion a means to provide certain individuals with money and power? Was Jesus an alien hybred implanted in the virgin womb and able to manipulate matter? Which religion is true? Which is false? What do YOU believe? Gee, all questions, hmmmm...Jaxerback posted:11/1/2012 11:26:32 AM (Reply)Right hook...BOOM!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMqTEfeqvmMbobprin posted:11/1/2012 12:44:40 PM (Reply)Jaxerback, you really are a fan of Richard Dawkins I must get the book. JAB JAB JABgary107 posted:11/1/2012 1:16:56 PM (Reply)religion is merely an aberation of the human mind. It is not important if you believe in God or which God nyou believe in. It is only meaningful if God should believe in you. Must religious written materials are full of errors and mistakes, it comes from the nature of those who write them. There are many dozens of places in the KJV Bible where the world is reported to be flat, flat and around in the first half, flat and four corners square and true in the newer half.gary107 posted:11/1/2012 2:14:46 PM (Reply)Isaiah 40:22 "...it is He that sitteth upon the circle of he Earth..." Revelation 7:1 "And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the Earth, ..." The Jewish or old part of the Bible appear written down on scroll left overnight on the front steps of the Temple in Judah in 371 B.C. The Christian new part in the first 50 years after 33 A.D. "...unto the ends of the Earth..." is so common to both sections of the Bible, that the geography of the two religions appear to lack a pillar to stand on and they do assert the world stands on pillars [ 1 Samuel 2:8 ].Jaxerback posted:11/1/2012 2:31:13 PM (Reply)jaxer 1:11:12..thou speaketh bull a pile of therein..LincolnGenghis posted:11/1/2012 3:21:01 PM (Reply)In Reply To:bobprin posted:11/1/2012 12:47:52 PM (Reply)Jaxerback, you really are a fan of Richard Dawkins I must get the book. Yes I did Watch this Dawkins character debate his point a Few different times.. It does seem that he Is quite fanatical in his beliefs. But I guess My point is why does he care so much? Well I know Some of it is to make money with his book but Is he going to go the facist route with it and Start throwing people to the lions like rome used to? Not that I am trying to stir the pot or anything. LolJaxerback posted:11/1/2012 3:45:56 PM (Reply)The point is ...he has no beliefs.and he is only trying to convey this way of thinking to the uneducated masses..he has no monetary issues either...when in doubt blame money..typical yank response.. LincolnGenghis posted:11/1/2012 4:27:12 PM (Reply)So anybody that does not believe as he does Is uneducated? :) Money is behind just about everything, all You have to do is look across the pond at the crown to see that. Or for that matter Our american television and politics. May be a typical yank response but I think The right one. It is just not tennis old boy!!...uppercut!! bobprin posted:11/1/2012 6:19:10 PM (Reply)I noticed religion and money have gotten mixed up here. That makes a good biscut. Notice how the virus mutates as it ages. People do tend to become fanatical in their beliefs. Take Oral Roberts for example, the man somehow persuaded thousands of people to throw money at him so he could build a university. Notice it is not called "people of faith", university. The virus mutates into inquisitions, sacrifice, jihadism, jonestown, and the salvation army. Power, greed, insanity, egoism, and my favorite example of how people will believe anything the Mormon church. Buddists don't seem to be swayed to violence. They all seem to have a common thread: God came from the sky. UppercutLincolnGenghis posted:11/1/2012 7:46:51 PM (Reply)And that is exactly why the hack job was done when the bible was thrown togather. If you go thru the Gnostic texts and other ommited doctrine you will soon realize what a different picture the book would have painted. The real reason for their exclusion was power and control, and basically at their core teachings they would have made cristianity non marketable from a profit standpoint. Oh there probably still would have been Oral Roberts type people around but they would be selling something else. Most people automatically deny anything they can't see, measure or control its human nature.
