Don't know about you, but I'm seeing one hell of a lot of stories about dead fish washing up everywhere..."experts" blaming oxygen depletion. I don't buy it...

I'm sorry that I'm not up to date on the fish. Is it because of the oil spill? If not then why so many dead fish?

I believe it has everything to do with the Gulf Oil crisis.  One of the effects of a large oil leak (it was not a spill, by the way) is a build up of bacteria that eats oil, which also deprives the water of oxygen, thus killing off marine life in the area.  It was predicted that the oil would travel up the Atlantic, and as a matter of fact, dead fish are turning up in droves up in Massechusetts.  Here's the story:  http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/08/10/fairhaven-ma-dead-fish-wa_n_677140.html

The national news said a couple of weeks ago that it's not so bad at all.....that what was left, nature was taking care of...    REALLY? Would love to know how that works.. Seems our media runs on oil as well.

LOL...I think when they say nature is 'taking care of it' that has something to do with bacteria 'attacking' the oil yet depleting the oxygen and killing the fish...which kill the birds and everyone else up the food chain...
