It does look very interesting, and the ideas behind it are very exciting. I imagine it would be a great read and a lot of fun.

I would be very surprised if any of this were actually true though. After looking at the sample images, I have to chalk this one up to the old "shapes in clouds" thing. These are blurry, indistinct photos with no indication of scale in them. If you look long enough, you can find anything you like in them. I still want the book, it does look really interesting & fun.

Darn images, makes me too curious not to. Just looking at the sample images on the website, especially the one of the half buried looking thing, it wouldn't surprise me if we are looking at an old set of mining facilities. If that is the case they could have been in operation 100 or 100,000 years ago. A truely fantastic thought.

Comment By: whitespiritwoman - At: 5/13/2008 10:04:44 PM

Ok my 2 cents is: the one show with the dogs. There is a lot of editing in these shows and sometimes it takes out things that give explanations so maybe there was more to the story of the dogs being killed in that area. The thing about Ryan being religious and using it to find ghosts...Every little bit helps. Alfie is a Pagan totally different to Ryans religion but he depends on her help. Look you don't have to believe in what they are doing just let the show entertain you. Lastly the show was picked up for another season.

Comment By: jeff - At: 5/13/2008 5:49:42 PM

I don't know...I like the egg = mind analogy. Here's an older post that I don't know if you read which uses the same analogy at some point, perhaps a bit more clearly:http://www.paranormalnews.com/article.asp?ArticleID=1197And you're right, this hatching post is one that I was sure would get absolutely no feedback because it is not clear. I have a number of those actually. Try reading my 'Upon which I Jade' post in my personal blog, or the post about Dramatica which compares thought to the structure of salt. But in the mix of all that is a few gems. I leave it up to other conscious minds to sort the chafe from the wheat--and each one sees what I've made completely differently. I can only steer my own car, I suppose, not all the other cars passing me on the highway. I cannot help but view all religions as bullets in a hand gun. When you're born, you're given this gun, told to spin the barrel, and pull the trigger--the TRUE religion is the empty chamber. Tell you what, if that's the game we're supposed to play, by all means, burn me forever. I'm not playing.

Comment By: jeff - At: 5/13/2008 5:25:48 PM

Excellent post. Everything has its dual opposite, and they are impossible to remove from one another without destroying its qualities. Like magnets, there are no monopoles of proper moral behavior...since our brains function through electromagnetivity, it makes sense that this polarity affects thought as well.Personally, I don't know if I will ever learn how to appreciate ritualized spirituality, satanic or otherwise. Which is kind of ironic considering my external behavior is extremely ritualistic. Internally, however, there's nothing ritualistic about me. I guess that is just evidence of the electromagnetic movement in my own mind, no? Everything has its opposite. It's about time that we all embrace contradiction as containing the gem of truth none of us seemingly can find.

Comment By: jeff - At: 5/13/2008 5:08:32 PM

Luciferianism is most often associated with freemasonry in which Lucifer is consider man's beneficiary. He is praised for giving man the ability to reason (Eat fruit from the tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil) instead of having man's morality handed to him by a higher power. Man grows up and leaves the house of his father to make his own rules, eventually. I don't care what anyone believes as long as they obey the laws that govern us.

It is my feeling that the duality of good and evil exist only in the minds of the human race making both God and the Devil very powerful.

Regardless of what I individually believe, this kind of thing feeds their mental fire. Satanists are typically uneducated individuals with a-lot of displaced anger. They see the devil as a goat headed beast. What's funny to me is this depiction of the "Devil" is so very recent (about five hundred years). Before that he was depicted as a vampire like creature. They wouldn't know this though because their education is as limited as much as any other fanatical fundamentalist. Whether Christian, Islamic, etc.

Actually, there are some similarities between essays and paintings. They are both inanimate objects. They are both made my people with some form of medium and are made in a roughly similar way. They are both creative works that are intended to entertain, convey a message or provoke thought, perhaps all of the above. I hate this analogy a lot less than most. It is a lot closer to being intelligible and meaningful than the egg = mind analogy.

But I still hate analogies, even this one, and I will tell you why: It does not contain any real meaning.

You said: "Arguing about the validity of one of my essays is the equivalent of arguing about the validity of a painting."

What is the meaning behind "arguing about the validity of a painting"? It could be good, it could be bad. Only you know for sure what you meant by that and you did not tell us. It would have been better if you had just said something like "Arguing about the validity of one of my essays is a waste of time,(or super cool, or whatever) because...."

If you do not make you message clear, there is hardly any point to writing at all. Of course if it brings you happiness to do it, there is no harm in it. I certainly enjoy reading your stuff, even if I do not always get your point.

I believe you are mistating the definition of the golden ratio, and overstating its meaning.

There was a theory in the 19th century that tried to show the golden ratio could be found in nature, plants, animals & took its ultimate form in the human body, thus proving that we are higher beings than the other creatures on this planet. In practice, this was shown to be hogwash due to the high variability between individual examples of the same species.

I would be hard pressed to know how to apply the golden ratio to blurry, shadowy aerial photos with any kinda of accuracy. I think that you could get a positive or negative outcome with no trouble. It would only depend on what you wanted the result to be.

Please do not think I am trying to slam you, I just want to be helpful. I enjoyed reading your post and it made me think. I do agree that if you could demonstrate with certainty that phi were encoded in the mars hill/face it would be some pretty good evidence that it was constructed.

Here is the wikipedia article on the golden ratio, it is pretty good.

I can't remember exactly, but you take the distance from your eyes to your mouth divided by the distance from the bottom of your nose to your mouth. Or something like that. Anyway, you will always get the number 1.618 or phi. This number is called the golden ratio and it is found in all living things including plants. If phi were to turn up from the face that would be some pretty hard evidence to ignore.

Comment By: Darvo2 - At: 5/13/2008 7:54:57 AM

So what is this? Started pretty much with the Roman Catholic, then Catholic, Luthren, Episcipallion, Baptist, and a score of different types under one religion. Ridiculous. I do not want to hamper your obviously free spirit, but it is a little confusing when you do this.

There are forum topics for all the things you mentioned in your posts here. If you post under the correct topic, I promise I will read it, and I will probably understand it better because I will not be thinking about another topic when I read it.

This is a good example of the problem I have with the show.

The client mentioned in this episode that two dogs had got hit by cars on thier front road and that she thought they had comitted suicide. I guess it was to escape the ghosts.

There is nothing unusual about dogs getting hit by cars. The road looked like it had a fairly sharp bend in it in front of the house they were investigating. I know a person that lives on a rural road at a bend like that and there are at least a couple of dogs hit there every year.

On the show, it was immediatly accepted with no question whatsoever that the dogs had comitted suicide. Is this really a solid way to investigate the supernatural?

I think that every episode of this show is basically a rush to judgement. Any story or fact they come across is almost always interpreted as being a true supernatural occurance. They seem to apply very little in the way of critical thinking to what they are told.

I am sure the group is sincere and really wish to help people out. I do not think it helps someone to reinforce thier belief that they are being preyed on by supernatural forces if that is not realy the case.

I do enjoy watching, but not as a serious investigation of the paranormal. Perhaps if it were an hour show, they could present more of thier findings show that I am wrong about the rush to judgement. (assuming there are more findings)

Comment By: caniswalensis - At: 5/12/2008 1:33:32 PM

I do not think it is the idea of life on other planets that he is contesting. It seems to be the idea of life from other planets visiting us.

I personally believe the former is more than likely. I am on the fence about the latter and would like to see some strong evidence. I do not count eye witness testimony as strong evidence.
