Filled with some impressive intellectual snippets, the book also provides a bit of education to enthusiasts of the spirit world--on quite a few occasions, I found myself reading about legal cases I was not familiar with, and explanations behind spiritual communication that I had not heard before, and trust me, I’ve heard a lot. Written By: James Paradie Posted: 1/17/2013 When you think of hotels, you mostly think of suites, a hotel breakfast, maybe even an indoor pool. Not necessarily, when it comes to the Mount Washington Hotel at least. This hotel, which was designed by architect Charles Alling Gifford, was designed to look like a “Spanish Renaissance Revival”, has some guests that do check out, but SOME have decided to make this five story hotel their eternal home. Written By: Kirsten A. Thorne, PhD Posted: 1/2/2013 Paranormal investigators, mediums, and researchers into the field of survival of consciousness are occupying a liminal space by virtue not only of their object of study, but of the interplay between investigator and the other worlds they enter at will. One must occupy these liminal spaces in order to understand them; in other words, the subject of your research turns you into an object of it, as well. Written By: Larry Smith Posted: 12/7/2012 UFOs, are an interesting subject, but did you ever hear about UFC's? At this point I'm going to take a little beginners license and steal a phrase from research papers done by a gentleman by the name of Trevor James Constable. He is a scientist credited with the photography of CRITTERS, as he named them and certainly produced enough written material to make it worth your time reading. He explored an area 50 years ago that I certainly would not have been interested in at that time but in view of present-day phenomenons I believe anyone would be interested now. I believe these are the first quality, pix to be published, and they come with a long story . I hope there is going to be enough interest to satisfy my curiosity at least. I have finally located a person who is an actual eye-witness to what I merely obtained game-cam digital pix of. It is my hope that others who have seen critters, at least, or better yet have clear pictures will come forth and share. Written By: Paranormal News Posted: 11/30/2012 The Paranormal Equation is a new book by James D. Stein, attempting to provide a new scientific perspective on what many would consider to be inexplicable, supernatural phenomena. He begins by defining what he means by supernatural using the Merriam Webster dictionary of the term: “Of or relating to an order of existence beyond the visible observable universe; especially: of or relating to God or a god, demigod, spirit, or devil.” Science, however, does not confine “observable” to “visible”--if we were stuck with constricting ourselves to the visible, then electrons, bacteria, radio, and x-rays would be considered supernatural phenomena, so it is not accurate enough. The second part of the definition of the supernatural the author visits is: “departing from what is usual or normal especially so as to appear to transcend the laws of nature,” and this, he states, is something that science can study, as transcendent laws have been hinted at by logical proofs provided by mathematicians over the past century--in p Written By: James Paradie Posted: 11/29/2012 I've been hearing a lot about "Paranormal Unity" lately and even though I don't have the complete grasp of what it means as a whole, I'm going to make a guess: My guess would be that it means that no matter what we do, no matter how much evidence we have, no matter how many millions of stories are out there, we just can't win them all. And no matter what, there's going to be those who simply put their fingers into their ears, shut their eyes, and not listen. See no evil, hear no evil. There are those who just don't want to listen and it's almost like nails on a chalkboard for them to even take a moment and rationalize the possibility of their being life after death. And where does the paranormal unity talk come from? We got to stick together. Written By: James Paradie Posted: 11/29/2012 You want to try to approach them like they are one of us, because if you go in there like some people, "How'd you die? Were you murdered?" These are sensitive questions that you should not start out with. You should try to form a bond with the spirit. Try to talk to them like they are one of you. Start off with introducing yourself and maybe asking what the spirits name is. Written By: Jeff Behnke Posted: 11/3/2012 Cognitive processes are not wholly confined ‘in the head.’ When you depend on an external item to aid with cognition, such as using a calculator or writing directions down on a piece of paper, the depency on the external element creates a coupled system, one external to you and one internal to you, which together can be seen as an extension of your consciousness into the environment itself. This coupled system may, in fact, be the reason why houses are haunted. Coupled systems from the past may create ‘hauntings’ where external elements of cognition linger long after the coupled system was severed by the onslaught of death. It is thus up to the paranormal investigator, not to find blips and beeps on a recording device without context, but to uncover these external cognitions still at work and learn more about the context, almost as if they were archaeologists discovering bones--left over pieces of people’s active beliefs and culture--in a long forgotten tomb.
Written By: John G Sabol Jr. Posted: 11/2/2012 I am an archaeologist. I re-define the past through the material remains of past presence that I unearth through excavation. The past becomes present in this archaeological process. But what happens when that past continues to percolate “live” (and is not a residual material remains) in the present? As an archaeologist, I know that the past is not “dead”. I uncover its remains through excavation and reconstruction. But what happens when that past manifests (and interacts) because of some field practice that I have just performed? Written By: Paranormal News Posted: 10/29/2012 Ghost Culture: Theories, Context, and Scientific Practice, is a book written by John G. Sabol Jr, concerning the scientific gathering of ghost data and how to better improve and catalog research from fellow investigators. Rather than relying solely on instruments from our culture to record ghosts as outside intruders, investigators should focus on hauntings as the manifestation of a drama (rituals and rites of passage) in time peopled by ghosts which must be entered in order to connect. Written By: Michael Hobert Edwards Posted: 10/25/2012 Speaking to the dead with radios obviously is the name of my book, but what actually does that mean in layman terms. Do I have a radio that I turn on to have a two way conversation with the dead, for example, like using a CB Radio? Well no, not exactly. The radio is just a just a tool used in the process to help record paranormal messages or Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP). What were his beliefs? What did he, himself, think, which gave him the power to move objects and communicate with the departed?
Written By: Paranormal News Posted: 2/20/2012 If you are a paranormal enthusiast with an acute interest in philosophical works influencing some of the subject's greatest thinkers, The Trickster and the Paranormal written by George P. Hansen is a book not to be missed. It discusses the concept of the "trickster” and his unspoken and often ignored relationship with supernatural phenomena and societal change. Whereas western Aristotelian logic sets up the law of the excluded middle in which something either is or is not, trickster concepts reside at the crossroads of these two opposing worlds. The subjects of the paranormal thrive here--between heaven and earth reside the UFOs; between life and death reside the spirit world; between truth and fiction reside the manifestation of reality itself--these convoluted crossroads are all trickster territory. Written By: Paranormal News Posted: 2/2/2012 In his collection of essays, Wallace wrote that many people puzzled over his interest in spiritualism. Natural Selection and spiritualism were seen as totally incompatible, and the opinions of many stated that the clergy must have influenced his ability to be rational. His own belief held that invisible intelligences, although invisible and intangible, acted upon mankind, and these invisible intelligences were ultimately responsible for the phenomena associated with spiritualism. Although natural selection played some role in the evolution of man, so too did invisible intelligences.
