Many soldiers did not survive their injuries, and are said to still roam the battlefield to this day. One specific site at the Battlefield where many have reported phantom encounters, is known as Devil’s Den. This is a large outcropping of rock in one area of the battlefield. People have reported seeing a barefoot man in a orangey-brown shirt, and a floppy hat that points over to an area known as “Plum Run”, and says, “What you’re looking for is over there” before he promptly vanishes.
Another site in Gettysburg known for is ghostly sightings is the old Sach’s bridge. Members of paranormal groups have reported seeing strange orange lights on one end of the bridge and a mysterious fog. They have also heard sounds of horses neighing, and cannon fire.
On May 12-14 2011, Para-Boston is on a mission to discover for themselves, the existence of these phantom casualties of war. Para-Boston takes a 100% scientific approach to paranormal investigation, using state of the art technology including infrared DVR cameras, tri-field meters, electro magnetic field meters, IR thermometers, digital audio recorders, Mini DV cameras, etc. Brianne Pouliot, an investigator of Para-Boston states, “What we try to do is eliminate the obvious, and sometimes not so obvious sources first. Then, continue to try to debunk or re-create some of the scenarios, or photos we’ve seen. When we aren’t able to do it, that is when we consider a paranormal source.”
Para-Boston also plans to make a trip over to the infamous Eastern State Penitentiary on on May 15, 2011, to discover what may or may not still lie beyond it’s forbidding walls. Eastern State Penitentiary was the world’s first true Penitentiary of its kind. Men such as Al Capone, and “Slick” Willie Sutton were inmates there at one time. Today, the prison is a mammoth structure in the heart of Philadelphia that draws not only historians, but others who are interested in ghost tours. Para-Boston will join the ranks of other well-known paranormal groups who have investigated this creepy place, such as TAPS, the crew of Ghost Adventures, Paranormal TV, and Great Britain’s Most Haunted.
