Press Release: Haunted Astoria - Trick or Treat?

ASTORIA, OR – Trick or treat? You decide as you take the Haunted Astoria self-guided tour through selected historic sites on Saturday, November 1, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Each site offers a special host to talk about ghostly occurrences and its haunted past. The evening includes a psychic and paranormal fair, special movie showing at Liberty Theater, and a late night gathering at The Schooner to share personal ghostly encounters.
Self-Guided Tour of Local Haunts
4:00 – 7:00 PM
Flavel House (Corner of 8th & Duane) – Visit the historical Flavel House for a special reading of selected poems and stories by Edgar Allen Poe.
Hotel Elliott (357 – 12th Street) – Step into the “haunted suite” on the second floor to hear stories of this historic hotel’s alleged ghosts as collected by the owner and shared by staff.
Liberty Theater (1203 Commercial Street) – Learn about ghost hunting techniques and technology by A.G.H.O.S.T. (Advanced Ghost Hunters of Seattle Tacoma). They will share their haunted discoveries made in this area, including those at Liberty Theater.
Pier 11 (North end of 11th Street on waterfront) – Revel in the stories of the sea and ship wrecks as presented by living historian Matt Hensley and researched by local historian John Goodenberger.
Rosebriar Inn Bed and Breakfast (636 – 14th Street) – Take a tour with the Innkeeper and learn of its colorful past and haunted tales.
The Officers Inn (640 Russell Place, Hammond by Fort Stevens) – Explore the original officer’s quarters at Fort Stevens and hear about its hauntings as researched by author Jefferson Davis. Personal tours by the owners will continue until 9:00 pm.
Psychic & Paranormal Fair
4:00 – 7:00 PM at Pier 11
Several vendors will be present and include a tarot reader, face reader, holistic therapists, art and jewelry. Browse our vendor’s selection for all your mystical and mythical needs.

7:30 PM at Liberty Theater
This is Roger Corman’s 1960 adaptation of the Edgar Allen Poe story starring Vincent Price.
Ghost Stories
9:30 – Midnight
The Schooner Restaurant on 12th Street (360 – 12th Street)
Gather at The Schooner for an “open mic” session to share your own personal experiences with ghostly encounters or haunted places.
Tickets are $10 for the tour and movie. Movie tickets are $3. Advance tickets may be purchased at Astoria-Warrenton Chamber located at 111 West Marine or at The Liberty Theater located at 12th and Commercial in downtown Astoria. Tickets may also be purchased at any of the site locations on November 1.
